Ingredients
TO PREPARE CAKE:-
- All Purpose Flour - 1/2 cup
- Cocoa Powder - 2 tbsp
- Baking Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - a pinch
- Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Egg - 2 (room temp)
- Vanilla Essence - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 3 tbsp
- Curd - 3 tbsp (room temp)
- Hot water - 3 tbsp
TO PREPARE FROSTING:-
- Whipping Cream - 1/4 cup
- Dark Chocolate - 15 gram
- To Prepare Chocolate Sauce:-
- Corn Flour - 1 tbsp
- Whipping Cream - 3/4 cup
- Dark Chocolate - 40 gram
- Milk Chocolate - 10 gram
- Vanilla Essence - 1/4 tsp
TO PREPARE GLAZE:-
- Dark Chocolate - 30 gram
- Milk Chocolate - 30 gram
FOR SYRUP:-
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat eggs and vanilla essence. Add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy and pale yellow. Add oil and whisk lightly, do not over mix. Add curd and whisk until combined. Finally add the sieved dry ingredients and mix well. Add warm water and mix again. Pour the batter to the greased tin and bake it in a preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 C or until the toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center. Allow it to cool completely.
- Prepare the sugar syrup, by boiling sugar and water till sugar dissolves completely and boils. Remove from flame and let it cool down.
- To Prepare the frosting; whip cold whipping cream in a bowl until soft peaks forms. Double boil dark chocolate in a bowl and keep stirring it until melts. Let the chocolate come to room temp, add it to the whipped cream and mix well. Do not add hot chocolate as the cream may melt.
- To Prepare Chocolate Sauce; In a pan, add corn flour, whipping cream and whisk till dissolved. Add in dark chocolate and milk chocolate and cook on low flame stirring it continuously until the sauce thickens to thick pouring consistency. Add vanilla essence and mix well, once sauce boils, remove from flame, let it cool.
- Lets begin to layer the cake, to a tin, place the cake and pour the sugar syrup evenly over the cake and let it rest for 5 to 10 mins for the cake to absorb the syrup completely. Next, layer the frosting and spread it evenly over the cake. Tap the tin. Now, add the chocolate sauce and spreading it evenly to the cake, tap again. Freeze it for 20 mins or till it sets completely.
- Once the cake is set, lets prepare the chocolate glaze. Double boil dark chocolate and milk chocolate together, keep stirring until it melts. The bowl and spoon must be dry. Once the chocolates have melt, pour it over the cake and spread it evenly to a thin layer. As the final and 5th layer, take 1 tbsp cocoa powder in a siever and sieve it evenly over the cake. Freeze/refrigerate the cake until it sets. 5 in 1 Torte cake is ready now. Enjoy!!
