Bread Pudding is a popular dessert in many countries. It is prepared with bread, milk or cream, egg, oil or butter. The bread is crushed and soaked in egg-milk batter and with other ingredients of choice and then baked or steamed.
Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- Bread - 10 slices (cut the edges)
- Eggs - 2
- Vanilla Essence - 2 drops
- Sugar - 9 tbsp (more or less)
- Butter - 2 tbsp
- Milk - 2 cups
- Salt - a pinch
Instructions
- Heat sugar and water until caramelized, pour to the cooking tray and swirl lightly.
- Prepare batter, first crush the breads in a blender and transfer to a bowl.
- Blend eggs, milk, vanilla essence, sugar, butter, salt until dissolved and pour the mix to the crushed bread and mix well. Keep aside for 15 minutes till bread absorbs all the milk.
- Pour the bread mix to the caramelized tray, cover with aluminium foil, make holes and steam for about 30 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted in the middle of the pudding and it comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Once chilled, flip pudding to another plate and serve.
