Crispy Fried Chicken generally consists of ingredients such as egg, milk or buttermilk, flour and other spice powders. Flour is used to create a crust on the exterior of the chicken. The marinated chicken is refrigerated overnight and deep fried later on until crisp golden brown. It is served hot with barbeque sauce, garlic dip, hot chilli sauce.
Ingredients
Chicken - 1 Kg (Cut into desired pieces, with skin) Pepper Powder - 1 tsp Paprika Powder - 2 tsp Rosemary - 1/4 tsp Thyme - 1/4 tsp Cayenne Powder - 1/4 tsp Butter Milk - 2 cups Salt Oil - To fry Breadcrumbs or Crushed Oats Egg - 2 (Beaten) TO COAT :- Self-raising Flour - 2 cups Paprika Powder - 1 tsp Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder - 1/4 tsp Ginger Powder - 1/4 tsp
Instructions
- Marinate chicken with all spice powders, salt and keep aside.
- Add in the buttermilk, coat well and refrigerate for 6 hours to 8 hours. For better result, refrigerate overnight.
- Mix the spice powders mentioned under "To Coat" to the self raising flour and keep aside.
- Roll each chicken piece on the seasoned self raising flour, then shake off the excess flour. Keep aside for few minutes.
- Deep fry until done.
- If your using breadcrumbs/crushed oats, after rolling the chicken pieces on the seasoned flour, give the chicken an egg wash and dip it in the breadcrumbs or crushed oats, coat well. Keep aside and deep fry until golden brown.
