Ingredients

FOR ROUX:-

  • All Purpose Flour - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Water - 6 tbsp

FOR DOUGH:-

  • All Purpose Flour - 2 cups
  • Milk Powder - 2 tbsp (optional)
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Active Dry Yeast - 2 tsp
  • Warm Water - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Melted Butter - 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan, add the flour, water and stir continuously. Cook on low flame until it starts leaving the pan from all sides. The roux is ready.
  2. Now transfer it to another bowl, cover with a cling wrap and allow to cool completely.
  3. Add the warm water to a cup and mix sugar until dissolved. Add yeast and mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes to ferment.
  4. In a bowl, add the flour, milk powder (if using), salt and mix well. Add the roux and start mixing, pour the yeast mixture and knead well to a soft and smooth dough. Add water, if needed. Knead for about 10 minutes. Apply oil around the dough, cover and keep aside for 2 hours for the dough to ferment and double in size.
  5. Once fermented, knock down the dough, knead again. Sprinkle some flour on a flat platform, transfer the dough to the platform and knead well for about 5 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into 5 to 6 portions equally and roll each ball until smooth. Place them on a greased baking tray, cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside for another 1 hour for the dough to rise.
  7. Give all the doughs a butter wash and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. Bake in a preheated oven for 15 to 20 mins at 200 degree. Temperature may vary with oven.
  8. Cool the buns completely before serving.
