Grilled Chicken Shish Tawook | Authentic Shish Taouk Chicken Skewers Recipe

Shish Taouk is a middle eastern cuisine, marinated in spices, skewered and grilled. The dish is eaten either as a sandwich or on a platter with vegetables, french fries and arabic bread.

Ingredients

  • Boneless Chicken - 250g (cut into cubes)
  • Onion - 1/2 cup (cut into cubes)
  • Capsicum - 1/2 cup (cut into cubes)
  • Tomato - 1/2 cup (cut into cubes)
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Paprika Powder - 1 tsp
  • Cayenne Powder - 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • Curd - 3 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice - 3 tbsp
  • Salt - as needed

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken and vegetables with the spice powders, lemon juice, curd, salt and ginger garlic paste. Keep it refrigerated overnight.
  2. Now, thread the chicken and vegetables to the skewers.
  3. Grill it for 5 minutes on each side or till the chicken is cooked. Do not overcook the chicken.
  4. Brush oil in between to the chicken, so that the chicken doesnot dry out. Serve hot with arabic bread.
