Chicken Basket | Chicken Pot | Chicken in a Basket Recipe

It is a simple and easy to make snack from scratch. Its appearance is different from any other snacks made. It is an equally enjoyed snack by all ages. The filling can be accordingly.

  • All purpose flour- 1 cup
  • Salt
  • Oil- 1tbsp
  • Water


  • Boneless chicken - 2 cups (boiled and shredded)
  • Mayonnaise - 1 tbsp or more
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Capsicum - 1 (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)


  1. Mix salt and flour in a bowl well. Add oil and knead again. Add water and knead to a soft dough. Keep aside for 1 hour.
  2. To prepare the filling:- In a bowl, mix shredded chicken , pepper powder and mayo. Keep it aside.
  3. Now make basket by pinching very small sized ball from the dough, apply oil on a flat surface, roll it flat using a rolling pin. Roll to a 5cm diameter disc.
  4. Take a steel cup and place it up side down, place the rolled disc on the cup and enclose it to a cup shaped like appearance.
  5. Heat oil on high flame, reduce flame, drop in the steel cup along with the disc, once the disc in semi cooked, it starts leaving the edges of the cup. Deattach the disc from the cup using a fork or laddle and remove the cup. Fry the basket until light golden. Continue the same process on the remaining dough.
  6. Now, take each baskets, fill each one of them with a spoon full of chicken-mayo mix , sprinkle some capsicums and corianders leaves on top. Top with chilli sauce/ketchup and serve hot.
